Our Client is one of the UK's leading Law firms, with revenues in excess of £100m indeed it is the largest single site firm outside of London. Our brief was to identify and attract a Head of Banking (or acquisition finance) to lead and develop the practice in London and take on the wider mantle of building the Firm's finance offering.
Our client was keen to hire an equity partner from an established player in acquisition finance / banking with quite specific complementary client contacts. Ideally, this individual would have a well developed relationship with Lloyds in order to increase market share in London.
The market was typically competitive as is the nature of banking, and competition was especially fierce, exacerbated by the fact that our client, whilst one of the best players in its region, was perceived as just that, a regional firm rather than a top London brand.
Ultimately, when the shortlist was presented, the client was given three options as each candidate had a different background and area of expertise and the successful candidate was a Senior Lawyer with a top 10 London firm. Subsequently, this candidate has successfully developed our clients overall banking offering and strengthened relationships with multiple key UK financial institutions.
