The brief was to find and attract a Head of Health Finance whose appointment would contribute to the growth of the overall Government Services practice and healthcare advisory team in the UK. This appointment was a critical step in the overall growth agenda as laid out by the then Partner for Healthcare.

Through the meticulous research that Walgrove had conducted, coupled with our extensive knowledge of the market, we identified that there was a complete team of individuals including 2 Partners housed within a blue-chip management consulting business whose skills and experience were extremely relevant and complementary to the structure and vision of our client organisation. The relevance of the target team's skills was further heightened by the fact that our client company was re-growing its consulting arm further to the de-merger of its consulting business in recent years. This team had an unparalleled track-record in healthcare cost reduction, performance improvement, health systems transformation and IT-enabled change.
Walgrove successfully attracted and appointed each member of the team to the client organisation which had the cumulative effect of consolidating our client's position in Health Finance and the broader healthcare consulting market almost immediately. This also allowed our client to devote its efforts to building its overall Government Services capability. Today, the team is assisting the Department of Health, Monitor, Strategic Health Authorities and individual Trusts with a wide range of issues in order to deliver real service improvement.
