Our Client was a leading 'Group A' accounting firm, part of the world's fifth largest accountancy network with more than 600 offices in 100 countries.
The brief was to identify and attract a Financial Reporting Director or Senior Manager.
The target population typically included candidates employed either by a technical accounting competitor or working for one of the accounting practices of the 'Big 4'. It was a prerequisite that the candidate would be a qualified and experienced technical accountant in Financial Reporting, though industry sector experience was not specified.
Market conditions at the time were such that there was a finite pool of candidates in the market and skills were scarce, especially at senior levels. The competition for talent was fierce, especially given the increasingly regulatory nature of industry and commerce at the time.
Four strong individuals were shortlisted and the client ultimately appointed 2 individuals - a Director and Senior Manager, both chartered accountants with excellent academics working for the accountancy practice of a 'Big 4' Management Consultancy.
These appointments continued to be a success story, as the Director has subsequently been appointed Partner and the Senior Manager has been promoted to Director within 2 years.
